Website redesign Abbotsford: what to fix before rebuilding

How to tell whether your site needs a targeted repair or a full rebuild—and how to protect search visibility while preparing for AI search and browser agents.

Your website does not need a redesign simply because it looks a few years old. It needs attention when it stops helping people find you, trust you, and contact you. Before choosing a website redesign Abbotsford businesses should audit search visibility, mobile speed, navigation, enquiry tracking, content, and migration risk.

The findings should decide whether you need targeted repairs, a visual refresh, or a full rebuild. Scope depends on page count, integrations, and content changes. Review our verified Abbotsford website pricing and timeline guide before comparing proposals.

How do you know when it is time for a website redesign Abbotsford audit?

Start with outcomes, not fashion. A new colour palette cannot fix an indexing problem. A faster theme cannot repair a confusing offer. Compare what the site is supposed to do with what it does now.

Important pages have lost Google visibility

A drop from page one is a warning, especially when qualified traffic and calls fall with it. Check Google Search Console before blaming the layout. The cause may be a technical error, changed search intent, weak content, stronger competition, lost links, or several issues at once.

If the page no longer answers what customers need, a redesign can rebuild the information structure around real questions. Our Abbotsford web design service treats content, navigation, and conversion flow as one connected job.

Your business is missing from the local Map Pack

The Map Pack is not controlled by the website alone. Your Google Business Profile, category, reviews, proximity, and relevance also matter. Google’s local ranking guidance groups these signals under relevance, distance, and prominence.

Do not order a full rebuild based on one manual search. Local results vary by location. Track a small set of valuable queries from the service area, then compare them with calls, directions, and website visits.

People click, but they do not call

This is the signal I pay closest attention to. If qualified visitors arrive but do not contact the business, I inspect the path between the search result and the enquiry. Can someone understand the offer in five seconds? Is the phone number easy to tap? Does the main button stand out? Can they reach services, pricing, and proof without hunting?

“I don’t build award-winning websites. I build websites that help my client’s customer find them, trust them, and call them.”

The primary action should look like the primary action. I place a clear, high-contrast call to action where the visitor has enough information to decide, then repeat it after major proof or pricing sections.

The page, images, or mobile flow feel slow

Use PageSpeed Insights as a diagnostic tool, not a trophy cabinet. Google explains that it separates real-user field data from Lighthouse lab data. Large images, layout movement, delayed fonts, and heavy scripts can make a page feel broken even when it eventually loads.

Yes. Google’s guidance for generative AI features says AI Overviews and AI Mode are rooted in core Search ranking and quality systems. A page must be indexed and eligible to appear with a snippet before it can be eligible for these experiences.

Google also confirms that AI systems can use query fan-out. One broad question may lead to related searches about cost, timelines, migration risk, local SEO, mobile speed, and AI readiness. That does not mean publishing a thin page for every variation. A stronger approach is one useful page that answers the natural follow-up questions with first-hand detail. Learn how our AI search optimisation work supports that structure.

01

Working

Pages open, forms send, and links function.

02

Search-ready

Content is crawlable, indexable, and internally connected.

03

AI-search-ready

Answers are specific, retrievable, sourced, and based on experience.

04

Agent-ready

Controls have clear names, stable layouts, and predictable states.

Is your website ready for AI agents?

AI search visibility and agent interaction are different tests. Search visibility asks whether a system can find, understand, and cite information. Agent readiness asks whether a browser agent can operate the interface reliably—identifying a button, moving through a form, or completing a task.

Chrome’s experimental Agentic Browsing audit checks issues such as accessible names, layout stability, and machine-readable tool definitions. Chrome explains that the category is unbenchmarked and reports the ratio of applicable audits passed.

A redesign test from Mortgage in Ottawa

During our redesign work for Mortgage in Ottawa, I tested the redesigned build in PageSpeed Insights. The supplied desktop lab snapshot shows 97 Performance, 97 Accessibility, 100 Best Practices, 100 SEO, and 3/3 applicable Agentic Browsing checks.

The useful part is not the green circles. The test verifies a strong technical baseline on that run. It does not prove rankings, calls, or AI citations. Those outcomes need separate Search Console, analytics, call, and visibility data.

This project moved from an existing WordPress implementation to a custom-coded build because that approach fit this project. Platform choice is not the universal answer. We also work with WordPress, Wix, and other platforms when they match the client’s needs.

Do you need llms.txt to appear in Google AI results?

No. Google’s current guidance says it does not use llms.txt files for AI features or Search. Adding the file will not make a page rank or earn a citation.

Chrome’s Agentic Browsing documentation treats it as optional. If it is absent, that audit can be marked not applicable. If present, the file should return correctly and point to valid resources. Prioritise crawlable pages, useful first-hand answers, accessible controls, and stable layouts before optional discovery files.

How can you redesign a website without losing SEO rankings?

Risk rises as more addresses and content relationships change. Google’s site-migration guidance recommends mapping old URLs to new ones, using permanent server-side redirects, and avoiding redirect chains.

Frequently asked questions

Will a website redesign hurt my Google rankings?

It can if useful content disappears, URLs change without redirects, internal links break, or the new site blocks crawling. A careful redesign preserves useful pages, maps every changed URL, and monitors Search Console after launch. Short-term movement can still happen, so benchmark the site before making changes.

Should I keep my old URLs during a redesign?

Keep stable URLs whenever the page purpose stays the same. If a URL must change, redirect the old address directly to the closest relevant new page. Sending every old page to the homepage gives visitors and search systems less context.

How long should redirects stay active after a redesign?

Google recommends keeping redirects for at least one year. Leaving useful redirects active longer is often sensible because old links, bookmarks, and printed materials can keep sending visitors for years.

Can I redesign without changing website platforms?

Yes. A redesign can improve structure, speed, content, navigation, and calls to action without changing platforms. The right choice depends on editing needs, budget, integrations, and who will maintain the site.

What does a 3/3 Agentic Browsing result mean?

It means the tested page passed three Agentic Browsing audits that applied during that Lighthouse run. The category is experimental and unbenchmarked. It does not mean the site ranks in AI search, earns citations, or allows every browser agent to complete every task.

Does llms.txt improve Google rankings?

No. Google currently says it does not use llms.txt for Search or its generative AI features. The file may provide optional context for other systems, but it cannot replace crawlability, useful content, accessibility, or sound SEO.
