An elevated Punjabi kitchen styled like a cookbook. Wood-fired tandoor, hand-shaping dough, menus as memoir. Premium South Asian dining register — warm charcoal, antique gold, tandoor red.
Most Indian restaurant sites in BC fight their own food. Busy patterns, stock photography, red-and-gold chain-restaurant clichés. Amara goes the other direction — dark charcoal, antique gold, tandoor red, everything restrained so the photography carries the warmth. Inspired by the premium South Asian restaurant register (Vij's, Pakka Local), but cleaner.
The menu is the story. Each dish ties to a specific village in Punjab, not a generic "northern" or "southern" region. The tandoor is the heart. The writing is a food memoir, not a marketing page.
Independent mid-premium Punjabi or Indian restaurants, $28–45 entrees, owner-operated or small group, serving Surrey / Abbotsford / greater Vancouver. Owners who want the design to respect the food — not compete with it.
Our founder is bilingual Punjabi / English. Zero competing BC agencies can produce restaurant design that sits inside the culture without looking like a stereotype. This is the uncopyable angle.
Hero plays a slow dough-making video loop — no stock food photography
Navigation overlays the hero on Home, solidifies on inner pages
Menu treated as a cookbook chapter — each dish tied to a specific village, not a generic region
Gurmukhi accents used as decoration, never as the primary read — English is the scaffold
Reservations is a single-field date picker, not a long form
Private Dining and Catering split out as their own pages — most BC restaurant sites bury these
CTA colour (tandoor red) used in max 3–4 places per page — the rest is charcoal + cream + gold restraint
React + hand-written CSS, served as static HTML. Google Fonts (Fraunces display, Inter body, Mukta Gurmukhi). Single hero video, no tracking, no analytics, no third-party embeds.
A concept site isn’t the finish line — it’s the starting frame. These are the real-client shifts we’d make on day one of a paid engagement.
